Welcome to our blog. Its main purpose is to serve as a central repository for information that I have found to be extremely relevant to the electrical design world. This information is either hard to find (because it’s buried under pages and pages of technical documents) or hard to understand.

I have personally gathered and curated this information from reading a multitude of publications, webpages, videos, conferences and even handwritten notes from more experienced engineers that I have had the pleasure to work with in the past.

I will try to explain each subject in easy to understand terms in an effort to help anyone interested in learning more about electrical engineering, especially those novice engineers that do not know where to obtain relevant knowledge and that feel overwhelmed by the excess of information available on the internet.

Although there are several other webpages dedicated to these subjects, i have found that most of them are either too technical for a novice engineer to understand, or, are based on the experiences of their authors and not on actual codes or standards. This leads to confusion between facts, requirements and good engineering practices.

The content will vary but it will include code analysis, basics in electricity, typical electrical calculations, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, generators, elevators, drafting standards and techniques. We will do our best to explain the code requirements as globally as possible but our main focus will be the codes adopted by the state of Massachusetts as that is where we are located.
