The following is a list of recent representative projects designed by LevelUp Engineering

• Green Thumb Growers – Indoor cannabis growing facility. Project consisted in renovating an old mill, located in Dracut MA, to accomodate the new use. Electrical distribution was completely replaced with new and included provisions for a future solar connection, stand-by generator and co-gen unit. Complete design for the fire alarm and lighting controls were also included as part of our services.  This project is currently under construction and expected to be in operation by 06/2021.

• Central Rock Gym – Commercial Tenant Fit-up. Indoor rock climbing gym located in Cambridge, MA. The project consisted in renovating an existing tenant space, in a strip mall, to accomodate the new space use. A site survey was performed to verify the conditions of the electrical distribution, lighting and fire alarm systems. We were able to reuse most of these systems without any major modifications or investment from the owner. Fire alarm modifications were done with close coordination with the local fire department to ensure compliance. 

• Brockton Hospital Covid-19 Suites Renovations – Healthcare. This project consisted in the renovation and upgrade of 3 patient rooms to serve the needs of Covid-19 patients. Project required several site visits to determine the conditions of the existing electrical distribution equipment for all the power branches affecting the project (i.e. normal power, critical, life safety and equipment generation branches). Such investigation required contacting the manufacturers of those equipment as well as collaboration with switchboards retro-fitters to determine the best approach for the improvements.  

• Lume Apartments and Townhouses – Multifamily residential. This project is located in Wilmington MA and consisted in a new 3 story, 65,000 Sq.Ft building with 39 residential dwelling units, underground parking with provisions for solar and public EV charging for the tenants. It also included a 27,000 Sq.Ft townhouse with 10 dwelling units, each with private garage. Our services included full electrical and fire alarm design including coordination with the local electrical utility company and fire department.  This project is in the permitting process and will begin construction soon.

• Cambridge School of Weston – School. This project consisted in the renovation of the main lobby and offices of the Klutchman administration building. Our services included an existing conditions report as well as an electrical and fire alarm design of the affected areas.

• The Charles Hotel – Cogen Interconnection. This project is located in Cambridge MA and consisted in developing the electrical drawings and specifications for the installation a new 280kW co-gen unit and its interconnection to the existing electrical distribution system. This documents were produced for the co-gen manufacturer as part of their “turn-key” solution to the hotel. This project required several site visits to properly document the existing electrical system, as well as bringing a switchboard retro-fitter to evaluate the proposed interconnection points. Several schemes were evaluated until the best solution was selected by the owner and the design team. This project is expected to go into construction in 2021.

• Nagle Fisheries – Food Processing. This project is located in Boston MA and consisted in the construction of a 2-story cold room inside the client’s existing facility. This effort included several site visits to properly document the existing conditions since “as-built” drawings did not exist. Our efforts included modifying the existing electrical systems to accomodate the new refrigeration and lighting equipment associated with the new cold room, as well as their associated fire alarm devices. This project is currently under construction and expected to be finished in 2021.
